Accreditations/Workshops

Freestyle Dance Accreditation

Freestyle Dance Accreditation curriculum incorporates the balance and agility of figure skating with the hip-hop funk of dance that is being done around the world. This new accreditation format also means no more exams. This program is pure learning and is designed to encourage participants to spice up their classes by adding a new dynamic and “rhythmic” component to their teaching and skating.

RollerbladeĀ® responded to this trend with a unique series of workouts developed in association with ReebokĀ® University and inspired by training methods used by inline skating and fitness professionals around the world. The ICP is proud to include this program in our course offerings.

Hockey Accreditation

This goal of this program is to facilitate the development of strong skating skills in hockey. Most hockey coaches have a strong background playing or coaching the game but often lack a full understanding of how to teach skating fundamentals. A Level 1 certification or equivalent is highly suggested but participants may also have commensurate coaching or teaching experience to be eligible. Teaching progressions for forward stride, explosive starts, backward skating, stops, and turns will be covered in depth.

Park Accreditation

This program is targeted at the skate park owner or manager who would like to have a more educated and credible park staff. Participants will learn about safety and the basic skills needed to successfully teach the discipline of aggressive skating in the park setting. Highlights include: skate park etiquette, equipment, skates and accessories and the basic skills needed to safely enjoy the features of skate parks. Skate park staff completing accreditation may be eligible for insurance benefits.
