Fitness Inline Training (FIT)

The FIT mission is to equip current skate enthusiasts with the skills necessary to meet their health & fitness goals through inline skating. The course is open to current marathon participants, certified instructors, skate patrol volunteers and health and fitness professionals.

FIT Track 1 is for those current certified inline skating instructor or certified fitness professional who would like to organize local marathon or fitness training programs. Those successfully completing all elements of the course will be recognized as a Certified Fitness Inline Trainer.

FIT Track 2 is for the skate enthusiast who would like to obtain a knowledge base and the necessary training components to distance train or complete an inline skating marathon. Those in track 2 will receive a Certificate of Participation.

FIT Program Includes the Following*:

  • Pre-Course Assessment Test (finished by participant prior to start of program)
  • Instructional Program-FIT Program Manual
  • Skating Skills Review
  • Field Instruction/Peer Training
  • Written and Practical Examinations
  • Program Marketing & Promotion Workshop
  • ICP Membership Benefits(website listing, lesson referrals, professional discounts, etc.)

* Those participants choosing FIT Track 2 will not take the practical examination nor will they receive ICP membership benefits.

Requirements

  • FIT Track 1
    • Strong ICP Level 2 skating skills
    • Practical street skating experience
    • Distance skating experience of a minimum of 10 miles
    • Participant must exhibit a moderate to high level of fitness and activity participation in their own lifestyles
  • FIT Track 2
    • One of the following: ICP Level 1 Certification or recognized certification OR Approved Fitness Industry Certification (ACE, AFFA, ACSM or equivalent)
    • Experience with skating the marathon distance of 26.2 miles)
    • Strong ICP Level 2 skating skills
    • Mandatory CPR certification (Within two months of certification)
  • FIT Track 2-Other Personal Skills Needed:
    • Candidates must exhibit a moderate to high level of fitness and activity participation in their own lifestyles
    • Patience to work with various populations
    • The ability to problem solve
    • A high comfort level with class handling skills to accommodate more than one fitness level in an inline session
